The sirens had gone silent hours ago. The grown-ups had vanished behind barricades and screens. For a long time, they waited—hoping someone would burst through the door and save them. But hope turned into resolve. They weren’t soldiers. They weren’t even supposed to be heroes. But they knew every hallway, every creaky floorboard, every hiding place. And if the world wasn’t coming to their rescue, then the world was about to meet them.
