The Ornament That Wasn't There
✨Prompt Play: Let’s Write Together!
This Week’s Prompt:
“The ornament wasn’t on the tree last year.”
My Take on the Prompt:
She paused mid-stride, one hand still tangled in the string of lights. The ornament caught the glow just right—simple glass, slightly chipped, unmistakably familiar. It hadn’t been there last Christmas. She would have remembered. Slowly, she lifted it from the branch, her thumb brushing over the faint scratch near the top. Some things arrive quietly, she realized. Not as replacements for what was lost—but as proof that love finds its way back in new forms.
🎄 Your Turn:
Write your version of the story. Maybe the ornament marks a new beginning, a long-held grief, an unexpected joy, or a memory returning when you least expect it. Small moments. Big meaning.
If you want, next we can pair this with a cozy Christmas image—or write a slightly more magical or bittersweet version instead.
