I Will Remember You
I Will Remember You is the song I wrote for the two people who shaped my childhood with the kind of love that doesn’t fade — my grandmother and, later, my grandfather. They lived their faith with a quiet strength and a purity of heart that still amazes me, even now. This song was born from the grief of losing them and the gratitude of having been loved by them so fiercely, so unconditionally, and so genuinely in the name of Christ. It’s a tribute to the mark they left on my life, a reflection on the lessons they carried with such grace, and a promise that their legacy lives on in me. Singing it brought tears, but it also brought healing, because every note is a thank you—to them, to God, and to the life they built through love.
There are people and places
Made to carry us through our travels in this world
Some leave bad, some good traces
But with every little bit, there lay a lesson in those ruins
Sometimes, we run so far, so fast, we miss life’s meaning
Sometimes, the years whisper past
We get lost, and we soon forget
But I could never forget.
I will remember you
I will remember you
Now your journey is over
Mine’s just pulled into the lead
I can only hope that I mirror
The love, the faith your spirit grew here
The gift of your grace
Will live on in me for now and all eternity
And when I leave this place
I pray to have left half the mark that you’ve made
And oh, what a beautiful mark you’ve made.
I will remember you
I will remember you
Let your sweet, sweet memory fill my mind
In the kiss of that moment, I will celebrate your life
I will remember you
I will remember you
I will remember you
