Easy Toasted Pecans

Toasted pecans take any fall dessert from good to unforgettable. The trick is to bring out their natural oils and deepen their flavor without burning them.

Ingredients

1 cup pecan halves or chopped pecans

Optional: ½ teaspoon butter or a drizzle of neutral oil

Pinch of salt (optional)

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Spread the pecans in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. If using butter or oil, toss them lightly before spreading.

Toast for 7–10 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until fragrant and lightly darkened. Watch carefully near the end—they burn quickly.

Cool completely before adding to desserts or storing.

Pro tip

For extra depth, sprinkle a tiny pinch of cinnamon or maple sugar on them while they’re warm.
